Carbide hole bits aren t always available and they re much more expensive. Cement fiber siding cfs can be drilled nailed and cut much like wood. It can be cut. Cement fiber siding is a commonly used building material.

As with any project good eye protection is recommended. I really do not want to replace the board. Holes are easy to make with an electric drill and a carbide tip drill bit. To start the saw in cement backer board drill a hole though the backer board large enough for the jigsaw blade or make a plunge cut with the blade in the backer board.

However i have not found a product specifically made for patching fiber cement siding. I want to patch the hole if possible. The hole size diameter is that of a cable line. Hardieplank is available as ready to paint or with a color layer.

The siding is fire resistant providing a high level of protection for a home. Purchase additional wood hole bits if you have a number of large holes to drill in composite or cement fiber siding. Since it is more abrasive than wood carbide or diamond blades are best for cutting. A cable line was run through the siding when the previous home owners lived there but the cable line is no longer there.
